John mckewen iii, owner

In 1977, I began a career in financial consulting. Today I am the owner of J.H. McKewen III & Associates LLC, an investment management firm located in Westerville, Ohio. Attending Ohio State University (Columbus) and Wright State University (Dayton), I pursued a minor degree emphasis in business and gained experience working through international banking, corporate and personal lending, bank trust departments, and various insurance and investment related positions.  I maintain full-time working hours in my business and face the same challenges as all other small self-employed business owners. It has been faith-building and immensely gratifying to experience God's promises and his daily provision.

John McKewen iv, Financial Counselor

I began helping people with their finances when I was in college, 15 years ago, and at that point, I didn't even practice what I preached.  That changed when I met my future wife, Andrea, and realized I wanted to start a family.  People continued to ask me for financial advice and after our daughter Addie was born, I began working at J.H. McKewen to see if this was a direction that God wanted for my life.  Finance has allowed me to use my analytical and inquisitive mind, combined with a strong teaching capacity, to help people identify how best to manage their resources.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Ohio State, and also studied agriculture. I also worked for a decade at Seagull Bags, an outdoor bag maker, as the financial and organizational head.  Currently, I still help out with money management and process implementation.

I also play Tenor Banjo, Bouzouki, and sings in a traditional Irish group called The Drowsy Lads, which has performed throughout the midwest at various large Irish festivals and theaters.

I love music, camping, hiking, reading, woodworking, gardening, climbing, cycling, and anything that stretches my brain and gets me outside!

Before J.H. McKewen III & Associates, LLC., I was the Human Resources Manager for a small landscape supply company. Wanting to combine my interest in budgets and spreadsheets with my customer service skills, and to explore a career in the financial sector, I took a job as a Property Claims Representative at Nationwide Insurance. Less than a year later, I transferred to Nationwide's financial arm, specifically working in their Public Sector Retirement Plans division. This is where I obtained much of my investment management, investor education, and retirement plans experience. After 5 years with Nationwide, I finished as a top Financial Services Trainer – developing and implementing customer-centric curriculum and training associates in client account management. I then transitioned to J.H. McKewen III & Associates, LLC. in March of 2015.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two young boys, taking trips to local parks around town, going on walks and visiting the Columbus Zoo. Some of my interests include: traveling, surfing (when I can get to the coast!), and throwing myself into home improvement projects.

I currently hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus in Religious Studies from The College of Wooster and am a Licensed Registered Representative (Series 6) at the Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm of J. H. McKewen III & Associates, LLC.
